Lauren Marx
Lauren Marx (b. 1991) was raised, and currently resides, in Saint Louis, Missouri, where she also received her Bachelors of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in drawing, in 2014. Since getting her undergraduate degree, Lauren has dedicated her life to pursuing her passion for illustration and furthering her love of the natural, and supernatural, world.
Lauren primarily works in permanent, or semi-permanent, drawing mediums such as pen, ink, and watercolor. Her work focuses on exploring the native flora and fauna of North America to further her fascination with life and death, historic religious symbolism in art, and her own mental health. Her work is heavily influenced by her love of scientific illustration, Medieval marginalia and bestiaries, as well as Renaissance religious paintings.
